In Fulcrum, a job is the command for your team to produce an item. In your business, you may call this a work order (a work order is entirely different in Fulcrum, as you will soon find out!) When you receive an order from a customer, you will (likely) create a job for each line item on that order. If you are running low on a component that you keep to stock, you will create a job to replenish this inventory.

Depending on your shop jobs may be created differently. For most custom shops or contract manufactures, jobs will be created from Sales Orders. For shops that have their own product line that can be sold to many customers, stock jobs may be created from Demand Planning (see link below).
