SolidWorks Import Instructions

We are able to read SolidWorks Pack and Go files to automatically attach part files and drawings to the associated items. To do this, you will need to export the Bill of Materials in an Indented BOM format in CSV or Excel format.

Below is an example of how this file should be formatted.

• The file name should be the full assembly part
• Each subassembly will be a whole number (1, 2, 3, etc.)
• Any component that goes into a subassembly (raw material/more subassembly), will be listed with the item number of (1.1)
• Going one layer further, you would add an indentation (1.1.1)
• All of this needs to be in numerical order!

The above example, when imported, turns into this result in Fulcrum:

Once you have your CSV file, and the file name matches the name of the top-level part, you are free to upload this!

If you want part files or drawings associated with each component, then create a Pack and Go of your assembly from SolidWorks. Take the Excel/CSV file that you created above, and drop it in the Pack and Go Zip File.

Upload this Zip file into the imports page of Fulcrum.

You will be able to modify new components to Fulcrum when they are first uploaded:

Alternatively, you may see tags like this on the items:

• Removed — indicates that this item used to be on the BOM in Fulcrum, but it is not present on the import. Importing it will remove it from the existing BOM.
