Your Fulcrum inventory items will be mapped to an accounting code. This accounting code is mapped to a "Product and Service" that is set up in QuickBooks Online. You can find these Products and Services here - https://app.qbo.intuit.com/app/items.
Your "Product and Services" can be set up to capture sales or expenses by category. You can also have a general sales product and service for the items you sell, and a general expenses product and service for the materials and products you purchase. These products and services need to be linked to their respective income or expense GL account in your QuickBooks Online company.
Once you have set up your products and services in QuickBooks Online, go to Fulcrum and navigate to your Business Setup ➡️ System Data ➡️ Tags section. Use the exact names of the products and services in QuickBooks Online to create tags set as Type - Accounting Codes.
Once these accounting code tags are created, you can assign them to your items within the individual item page in Fulcrum.
<aside> ❗ If your accounting code names tied to your items are not an exact match to the name of the Product and Service in QuickBooks Online, you will receive a sync error when trying to bring over your Purchase Orders and Invoices

A product in QBO can be tied to both an income account and an expense account. See below. When the product is found on a PO, it will be recognized as an expense and impact the expense account. When found on an invoice, it will be recognized as income and impact the income account you have associated it to.
